Many of these killers were trained at the School of the America's (remember General Wesley Clark, the so-called peace candidate? He used to be the top- dog at this torture academy)
The next time you are thirsty, please, I beg you, grab a Pepsi or anything other than a Coke and their other products (for example...Minute Maid, etc; etc.)
In casr you haven't heard yet, the Coca-Cola company isn't happy with all of their yearly dividends. They must have more capital to make their products the Real Thing all around the world.
They have hired para-military goon squads to kidnap, torture and kill union organizers at their bottling plants in Columbia, SA.
You can feel a kind of patriotism knowing that these killers were trained at the infamous School of the America's, located in Fort Benning, Georgia.
This is the same death campus that trained the goons that have returned to many South American countries and killed thousands of leftest students.
The Campaign to Stop Killer Coke is really starting to make headway around different sections of our country.
On August 23, 2004, the American Postal Workers Union held their 17th Biennial National Convention in Los Angeles, at which time the union voted to boycott Coca-Cola products.
Coca-Cola was forced to remove all of its vending machines from Carleton College, MN after a March 8, 2004 decision.
Jessie Jackson is on record as supporting the unionists in Columbia, SA.

We should not be able to sleep at night knowing that our brothers & sisters are being submitted to such unhuman acts by such an Ameican Icon as Coca-Cola.
Put pressure on your college and universities, churches and civic groups, to have them remove the Coke vending machines from their locations.
Always remember, in this captialist country, the only thing that talks in the Yankee Dollar!!! Capitilaists will kill for these dollars as should be evient to anyone who has an open mind on how our system works (such as Coke in Columbia, SA).
The bottom line is, they want our dollars. We must let them know that they not only won't get our dollars, but will shall hold them accountable for the tactics that they have used and are presently using to stamp out justice for the working man in Latin America and elsewhere!

Dear Brothers and Sisters:
We need your help to stop a gruesome cycle of murders, kidnappings and torture of SINALTRAINAL (National Union of Food Industry Workers) union leaders and organizers involved in daily life-and-death struggles at Coca-Cola bottling plants in Colombia.
In July 2001, the United Steelworkers of America and the International Labor Rights Fund ( http://www.laborrights.org) filed a lawsuit on behalf of SINALTRAINAL, several of its members and the estate of Isidro Gil, one of its murdered officers. The lawsuit and campaign aim to force Coca-Cola to prevent further bloodshed and to provide safe working conditions.
Coca-Cola bottlers “contracted with or otherwise directed paramilitary security forces that utilize extreme violence and murdered, tortured, unlawfully detained or otherwise silenced trade union leaders,” the lawsuit states. It also notes that Colombian troops connected with the paramilitaries have trained at the U.S. Army’s School of the Americas (SOA) at Fort Benning, Ga., where trainees were encouraged to torture and murder those who do “union organizing and recruiting;” pass out “propaganda in favor of workers;” and “sympathize with demonstrators or strikes.” This was made public when the Pentagon was forced to reveal the contents of training manuals used at the school. The year that the lawsuit was filed, The Coca-Cola Co. made $4 billion in profits and paid its CEO, Douglas Daft, more than $105 million. Coca-Cola continues to rake in billions each year, yet the frightening conditions at the Coke plants remain unchanged. Labor unions and human rights advocates in the United States can stop these atrocities at Coca-Cola’s bottling plants.
Please read the enclosed exposés. The Campaign to Stop Killer Coke will move the fight to the doorsteps and into the boardrooms of Coca-Cola and its key financial ally, SunTrust Banks. As long as SunTrust, “the bank of Killer Coke,” maintains its intimate ties to Coke through board interlocks, large stock holdings and credit relationships, SunTrust, along with Coca-Cola, will be a principal target of this campaign. We ask you to take part in this most important struggle. Any contribution you can make to the campaign will serve as a critical building block and act of solidarity to help end one of the ugliest chapters in labor history. Arbeitsbedingungen Kolumbien
Am 20. Juli 2001 wurde gegen die Coca-Cola Company, Coca-Cola de Colombia und Panamerican Beverages Klage eingereicht. Letztere ist der grösste Abfüllbetrieb Lateinamerikas und unterhält die eigene Tochtergsellschaft Bebidas y Alimentos. Diese arbeiten nur und exklusiv für die Coca-Cola Company. Die Anklage lautet auf Mord, evt. Totschlag an Gewerkschaftsführer Isidro Segundo Gil und Beraubung seiner Versammlungsfreiheit. Weiter werden in der Anklageschrift folgende Punkte aufgeführt: Entführung, Freiheitsberaubung, Verbrechen gegen die Menschlichkeit, Folter, Entzug des Rechts der Versammlungsfreiheit, willkürliche Festnahme und Inhaftierung, tätliche Angriffe und Ueberfälle. Diese Verbrechen sollen mit Hilfe von Paramilitärs begannen worden sein. In den letzten zehn Jahren wurden 7 Coca-Cola Arbeiter ermordet, zwei flohen ins Exil und 48 wurden vertrieben. (siehe Kasten „Vorfälle“). So erklären auf das Fabrikgelände von Bebidas und Alimentos eingedrunge Paramilitärs, dass der Betrieb keine Gewerkschaft haben will. Vom Tode bedroht verliessen 27 ArbeiterInnen von 12 verschiedenen Abteilungen den Betrieb und die Region. Sie wurden ersetzt durch neue Angestellte, die aber nicht mehr 380-400US-Dollar, sondern nur noch den Mindestlohnsatz von 130 US-Dollar pro Monat verdienten.
Doch statt Coca-Cola nun die Lizenzverträge mit ihren Abfüllern kündigte, profitierte sie von dem Terror gegen die Gewerkschaft SINATRAIL. Von den 2'500 Angestellten verfügen nur noch 500 über feste Arbeitsverträge, das durchschnittliche Jahreseinkommen, anfangs 90er Jahre noch bei 600 bis 700 US-Dollar, liegt nun bei 150 US-Dollar. Die Gewerkschaft verlor 3100 von ihren ehemals 5400 Mitgliedern.

Ueber die Anschuldigungen wurde fast 3 Jahre lang vor Gericht gestritten. Schlussendlich wurde die Coca-Cola Company freigesprochen, sie bestritten, dass ihre Abfüllanlagen in die Grausamkeiten von Kolumbien miteinbezogen sind, sie seien nicht für ihre Abfüller verantwortlich, obwohl diese ihnen zu 40% gehört und sie ihnen zu jedem Zeitpunkt die Lizenz zum Produzieren entziehen können. So geht der Prozess nun gegen die Abfüllanlagen der Panamerican Beverages weiter.

Coca-Cola in Indien
Hindustan Coca-Cola
1998-1999 baute die Hindustan Coca-Cola Getränke pvt. Ltd in Plachimada im Palakkad-Distrikt eine Fabrikanlage. Die Firma pachtete ca. 16 ha Land und bohrte 65 Tiefbrunnen, aus denen sie 1,5 Mio. Liter Wasser pro Tag fördern. Dieses kommt hauptsächlich von dem nur wenigen Metern entfernten Hauptbewässerungskanal, der vom Moolatharawehr abzweigt und von dem einige hundert Meter westlich entfernten Reservoire Kambalathara und Vengalakkayam. Das Wasserreservoir Meenkara liegt ungefähr 3 km weit weg das Hauptbett des Chitturpuzha 2 km. Die Fabrik liegt also, in dem sonst eher trockenen Indien, in einer sehr wasserreichen Gegend. Es leben dort vorwiegend Dalits und Ureinwohner, die meisten von ihnen ohne Land. Sie sind abhängig von der landwirtschaftlichen Lohnarbeit.
Berichten zufolgen bekam die Hindustan Coca-Cola keine Genehmigung zur Umwandlung von Agrarland in Industriegelände, doch diese brauchte es gemäss dem indischen Utilization Act (Bodennutzungsgesetz) Die Fabrik wurde also gesetzeswidrig gebaut. Deshalb muss die Stromversorgung über Generatoren erfolgen statt über das allgemeine Stromnetz.
Die Fabrik schuf 70 feste Stellen und sie stellte 150-250 Gelegenheitsarbeiter ein. Diese produzieren täglich 85 Lastwagenladungen Getränke, in 550-600 Kisten, jede mit 24 Flaschen à 300 ml.
Verarbeitungsschritte wie das Reinigen des Wassers, die Getränkeherstellung, Reinigung der Flaschen usw. produzieren neben Plastik-, Papier-, Metall- und anderem festen Abfall große Mengen von kontaminiertem Abwasser und chemischem Abfall.

Die Auswirkungen
Die fehlenden Umweltschutzgesetzte (siehe Kasten „Umweltschutz in Indien“) und die mangelnde Durchsetzung gegen den einflussreichen Hindustan Coca-Cola Konzern ergeben ein katastrophales Bild: Der Grundwasserspiegel ist im Umkreis von 5 km bedrohlich gesunken Es herrscht akuter Wassermangel, die ehemals blühende landwirtschaftliche Gemeinde mit Kokosnussplantagen und Reisfelder, auf der vorher Tausende gearbeitet hatten, liegt brach. Die Fabrik bietet nur noch für 70 Festangestellte und 150-250 Gelegenheitsarbeiter Arbeit. Wegen der schlechte Entsorgungen des bei der Produktion anfallenden Sondermülls wurden Wasser und Schlamm mit chemischen Abfall verseucht. Einem BBC-Bericht zufolge gab Coca-Cola diesen anfänglich noch an die Landwirte als „gutes“ Düngemittel ab, später wurde der Schlamm oft einfach in trockene Flussbette gekippt.
MenschenRechtWasser beschreibt die folgen so:
Reisbauern konnten ihre Pumpen nicht lange genug in Betrieb halten, um ihre Felder zu bewässern, was zu Ernteverlusten führte. Zusätzlich wurde das Grundwasser mit Zunahme des Salzgehalts und der Wasserhärte stark verschmutzt. Es wurden hohe Kalzium- und Magnesiumgehalte festgestellt, wodurch das Wasser für den menschlichen Verbrauch und für die Bewässerung nutzlos wurde. Die Coca-Cola-Fabrik entsorgte außerdem übel riechende Schlammabfälle als Dünger, was zu Verschmutzung und Hautproblemen führte. Neben den Auswirkungen auf die Reisfelder wurden etwa 1000 einheimische landlose Familien, die von Lohnarbeit in der Landwirtschaft abhängig sind, von der Verschmutzung des Wassers und den Ernteverlusten betroffen.
Coca-Cola India bestreitet jeden Zusammenhang zwischen ihrer Abfüllanlage und der schlimmen Wasserknappheit in der Gegend (es fehle, so die Sprecher des Konzerns, einfach nur an Regen). Trotzdem bringt die Fabrik künftig jeden Morgen als Zeichen von good will Wassertanks ins Dorf, um zumindest ein Minimum an Wasserversorgung zu gewährleisten.

Gemeinsam mit lokalen Gruppen haben Bewohner eines Dorfes im südindischen Bundesstaat Kerala Coca-Cola vor Gericht gezerrt, weil die örtliche Fabrik des Getränkegiganten angeblich zu viel Grundwasser abpumpte. Nach dem Urteil muss Coca-Cola nun woanders nach Wasser suchen.
