"national" (fuck nations) day of action against BiBA to make them fur free! BiBA is part of the ESCADA company, which is currently targeted by animal liberation activists/groups worldwide (see for the campaign: www.escada-campaign.org)

In the context of the international ESCADA-campaign which will make the luxury label fur free, on April the 5th a national BiBA-Action Day takes place in Switzerland.

In this country, the company Bayard Wartmann AG has the exclusive right to sell BiBA-Products. The company is owned by the married couple Bayard. Therefore, we can be sure that the responsible BiBA-persons in Switzerland will be informed about every single action that takes place against BiBA.

So go! Let us bundle our energies and carry out actions on April the 5th in the whole country! Take a stand, alone, in couples or in small groups. Organise demos in front of the BiBA-Shops, write protest-mails, call them, be creative! Let BiBA feel that we are here, ready and determined to make the ESCADA AG fur free. Get active!
On www.myspace.com/animalagenda you find the complete list of all BiBA-stores in Switzerland. Protest announcements as well as action reports can also be handed in there.

Aktionstag gegen BiBA in der Schweiz abgeblasen

Vor einigen Wochen wurde in der Schweiz zu einem kräftigen Aktionstag gegen BiBA am 5. April aufgerufen. Der Fokus sollte auf der Bayard Wartmann AG als die grösste BiBA-Partnerin in der Schweiz liegen.

Da die Bayard Wartmann AG nun ihren vollumfänglichen und unbefristeten Ausstieg aus dem Pelzhandel bestätigt hat, ist sie bis auf Weiteres nicht mehr Ziel unserer Aktionen.

Die wenigen verbleibenden Unternehmen in der Schweiz, die die Marke BiBA anbieten, wurden ein weiteres Mal angefragt, ob sie Echtpelze verkaufen. Drei Unternehmen bestätigten daraufhin, dass sie generell keine Echtpelze im Sortiment führen.

Mode Schellenberg, die eine Filiale mit der Marke BiBA betreibt, betonte, nie Pelzprodukte der Marke BiBA im Sortiment gehabt zu haben und dass dies auch in Zukunft so bleibe. Jedoch verkaufen sie vereinzelt Echtpelzprodukte anderer Marken.

Die Modekeller AG, welche in fünf Modegeschäften BiBA-Produkte anbietet, hat nach Rücksprache mit der Geschäftsleitung der Firma BiBA bestätigt, dass sie keine Pelze und Pelzartikel von BiBA mehr erhalten wird. Einem generellen Pelzverzicht kommt dies aber nicht gleich.

Der Aktionstag jedoch wird sinnvollerweise abgesagt, da in der Schweiz BiBA nur noch pelzfrei angeboten wird!

Für alle jene, deren Aktionswut nun enttäuscht wird, gibt es als
Alternative zum Aktionstag am 5. April die Möglichkeit, jene zwei Firmen, die zwar keine BiBA-Pelze verkaufen, jedoch nicht gesamthaft pelzfrei sind, höflich anzuschreiben oder anzurufen und sie um eine Stellungsnahme zu ihrem Pelzverkauf zu bitten.
